Artis Zoo

Artis, the oldest zoo in the Netherlands, founded in 1838, shows its historical character even before you walk through the gates: two golden eagles are perched proudly atop the main entrance. People enjoy the 19th-century atmosphere of the gardens: the winding paths, majestic trees, the fascinating sculptures and the monumental historical buildings. Artis is a fascinating zoo. In an area of 14 hectares around 700 species of animals provide a magnificent overview of the entire animal kingdom. Amphibians, reptiles, fish, birds, mammals and insects... all are superbly represented. Artis's renowned Aquarium brings you face to face with … the secret life of Amsterdam's canals! Around the zoo you'll find many more Dutch and European animal and plant species, as well as more exotic ones. You can also come to quench your thirst for knowledge at the Planetarium, the museums and all kinds of smaller exhibitions.

Nice family run hotel in a quiet part of Amsterdam 15 minutes walk from City Center.You will find us in a "Manor House" at the Plantage Parklaan, on a nice and quiet spot in the centre of Amsterdam at 10 minutes walking distance from attractions like the Hermitage, the Rembrandplein, the Stopera (The City Hall), Carré (main theatre), Artis (the Zoo) and the Waterlooplein with its world famous flea market.

The red light district with its nice little bars and its other cultural high life is within walking distance. The hotel has been completely non smoking since January 2008 and will continue to be so.........

Because of the 19th century character of the building (protected historical city view) no two rooms are the same regarding seize nor furnishing.

We have 12 rooms, from one-person up to three-person. All double and triple rooms have toilet and shower in the room. All rooms have television, small refrigerator and wake-up system. Also there is free wireles internet available in the rooms.
In the surroundings of the hotel there are many places of interest. There is only a small amount on this page, but we will tell you everything you want to know when you are here. Parking space (paid) is available just outside the hotel in the street or just around the corner in the guarded car park.
