• we had no heating in the room for all 3 nights, althought we complained this problem just after we´d arrived.

• very quiet and pleasant grounds with lots of trees with some in blossom. the tulip beds were lovely and the hotel was well screened from the road and traffic. the old castle was very attractive although it was unclear as to whether it was open to residents apart from the basement bar. very good continental breakfast in a very pleasant, light and airy dining room in the well converted old stable building.


• the bathroom was a small wet room without a bath. because of the design it was very easy for everything, including the towels, to get wet whilst showering. the separate w.c. was extremely small and there was no lock on the door. neither the w.c. nor the wet room had any mechanical means of air extraction. there was no hot food option for breakfast. the hotel claim that it was a 10 minute walk from the city was incorrect. me and my companion did this walk several times and whilst not unpleasant it took at least 20 minutes walking at an average pace. there was a bar in the basement of the castle but it was difficult to find the entrance and to tell if the bar was open. as the hotel was in a residential area without any bars and cafes it would have been nice if there was a hot drink making facility either in the room or in the reception area for use during the evening.
